Political commentators point to the fact that the "Obamacare" that Republicans are so opposed to is almost identical to the health insurance reforms that Gov. Mitt Romney supported and installed in his state while he was Governor of Massachusetts. Republicans have made many claims about the purported failures of the Massachusetts reforms. This report authored by Nicole Cafarella and Tony Carrk, policy analysts at the Center for American Progress, refutes these phony claims. They report, with evidence, that the Massachusetts health insurance reform law "is a success story from every perspective. The state has expanded health coverage to almost all of its residents, maintained a strong market for employer-sponsored health insurance, gained the support of the business community and the public, and is moving forward in containing costs."
